He introduces the scholarly conversation that surrounds New Testament passages within the Text Critical world.
Good book filled with Biblical information.
You studying Greek NT. You will NEED this. It is excellent.
Having UBS5 or NA28 gives the conclusions of the textual committee that decided on the precise reading for each passage of the Greek New Testament. These books also give some of the evidence. However, this book by Metzger, A Textual Commentary of the NT give the reasoning on each of these variant passages in UBS4 and a few others as well. It also provides a series of textual introductions to the major portions of the NT particularly the book of Acts. This is a mine of textual information - the comments about some passages go for pages.Highly recommended for anyone wanting a better understanding of the origin of the NT text
This has been an incredibly valuable tool for Textual Criticism and reconstructing the text to figure out what the original documents most likely said. It has been great to use in my Exegetical work in Seminary.
