Very cute, small, and inspirational to read. It also comes in a very nice format because some of the words are high lighted in a color for easy finding and it has the tendency of listing a simple definition (not lengthy sentences) to keep it in one straight row and not in paragraphs, for easy reading. Very nice.I started buying these at Barnes 'N Noble, but they didn't come in the languages I was after after that (Japanese and Chinese), so I started buying them on Amazon.com. I'm thinking of buying the Russian one, too.Just remember to get the "pocket' one, because that's the cute one I'm talking about. It's about 3 inches by 4 inches. Very cute and very nice.
We moved to China for a few months. My husband and I each carried one of these dictionaries with us the entire time. It's easy to use and is nice having the Chinese words in Pinyin. I loved that the cover is vinyl/plastic. A paper cover would have been destroyed with our constant use. My only gripe is that it didn't include some simple words that we would have liked to use, but it obviously couldn't include everything and be small enough to carry everywhere. I would highly recommend this book.
I bought this as a gift for my friend who is studying abroad in China next semester. She has been using it as a part of her Mandarin studies and has found it to be very helpful. The only issue is its size. I was expecting it to be a little bit bigger, and not so small you almost need a magnifying glass to read the words. However, I can rest assured knowing the book will not be lost as it is truly pocket-sized. Overall, I was satisfied with my purchase and so is my friend.
I love this concise dictionary because of its small size and large collection of words. About 95% of the vocabulary in my HSK students' curriculum has been covered by it.

I like the font because it's easy to read, a good thing since it's teeny. It definitely is a "pocket" dictionary. My husband didn't care for it because it was so small, but I do think it will come in handy when we go to China. It will fit in my purse easily!
I purchased this book for my daughter who is taking Mandarin Chinese in school. This has helped so much with her grasp of words and differences in tones.
